Group of Islands

The Argentine Islands are a group of islands in the Wilhelm Archipelago of Antarctica, situated 9 km (5 nmi) southwest of Petermann Island, and 7 km (4 nmi) northwest of Cape Tuxen on Kiev Peninsula in Graham Land. They were discovered by the French Antarctic Expedition, 1903–05, under Jean-Baptiste Charcot, and named by him for the Argentine Republic, in appreciation of that government's support of to his expedition. [Wikipedia]

Quartz-Molybdenite-Chalcopyrite mineralization in veins around granodiorite and/or quartz monzonite plutons.

Longitude and latitude of mineralization are in the center of the observed range [64 degrees 13' to 20' West and 65 degrees 12' to 16' South] given by Hawkes and Littlefair (1981).

The center of the range is in the Forge Island group with mineralization noted on the western tip of the southern large island, while veins are noted on the three largest islands of the Barchan Island Group immediately south of the Forge Islands.
