Monte Main (321 m) is a hill, located on the left bank of the Chiampo stream, made of Eocene calcarenites, basalts, and volcanoclastics.
The Middle Eocene basaltic rocks outcropping in the area above the abandoned Main Quarry hold chalcedony nodules, sometimes containing trapped water (enhydros). These nodules were already described by Fortis (1802). Associated minerals are quartz and calcite.
