峨眉山玄武岩型铜矿点, 昭阳区, 昭通市, 云南省, 中国
Emeishan basalts in Zhaotong Prefecture (Zhaoyang District, Ludian, Qiaojia and Yongshan counties) and the adjoining Weining County of Guizhou Province host dozens of small copper deposits and occurrences. The ore minerals are mainly native copper and chalcocite, minor copper oxides and occasionally subordinate amounts of sulphides. They occur as grains, irregular clusters and fracture fillings in layers consisting of basalt tuffs, tuffaceous lava and tuffaceous sedimentary rocks. In some localities, adjacent vesicular basalts are also mineralized. Gangue minerals are hydrothermal quartz and calcite. Individual ore bodies are a few meters thick and several tens of meters to 300 m long. The most common alteration related to the mineralization is zeolitization, which usually is extensively developed. Additional alterations are silicification, carbonatization and occasionally tremolitization and actinolitization.
