This graphite deposit was already known in 1855, and was operative 1917-1920 and 1932 to as far as known current time (2021). The production before 1932 was insignificant. During 1932-1985 the Skaland Graphite Company produced 295 Kt concentrate, and during 1986-2014 Skaland Graphite produced 140 Kt concentrate, but from 2007 on only from the Trælen mine (pers. com. Skaland Graphite). At its most in 1982 the mine employed 120 workers.
The deposit consists of graphite-bearing (20-30%) skarn lenses, hosted within micaschists that are surrounded by metagabbro and granite.
Around the pushpin several adits can be seen.
