NB: The OS NGR reference is for Calebrack rather than for a specific mineral location.

It should be noted that a bell pit refers to a primitive method of mining coal, iron ore or other minerals where the coal or ore lies close to the surface. A shallow shaft is sunk to reach the mineral, which is then brought to the surface by a winch and bucket. It gets its name because the pit resembles a bell in cross section. The remains of bell pits can sometimes be identified by depressions left when they collapsed, or by or small piles of spoil.

Thus, this reference is likely to refer to a small, unnamed bell pit working.
