The Capote Mine was one of several mines exploiting the rich hydrothermal veins of copper ore in the Cananea Mining District during its early days. The upper level hydrothermal veins consisted mainly of Chalcocite while the lower levels included a combination of Pyrite, Chalcopyrite, and Bornite with recoverable amounts of silver and gold.
