Velleia Romana, Lugagnano Val d’Arda, Provincia di Piacenza, Emilia-Romagna, Italia
This locality is known for archaeological excavations that have unearthed ancient Roman houses, baths and a theater.
In front of the ruins there is a gully consisting of marl and red clay, in which marcasite, pyrite and radiating baryte can be found simply by digging with a shovel or a pick axe.
Finds of pyrite crystals near the ruins of the Roman town of Velleia were already reported by Jervis (1874).
