Albitised pegmatite dyke at the contact with ophiolites of the Antrona-Zermatt-Saas unit located in the valley of Rio Rabbi, at an elevation of about 1280 m above sea level, about 200 m SE of Alpe Rosso and 1 km south of Orcesco village.
The dyke, included in the Bosco Negro Prospect for feldspars and associated minerals, was excavated from 1947 to 1955. In 1948, a 1700-m-long cable way was installed, and the excavated material was transported to the terminal station, located W of Orcesco near the Centovalli-Vigezzina Railway, where it was sorted, crushed, stored, bagged, and wagoned.
Most mineral specimens have been found and can still be found on the dump above the railroad, to the west of Orcesco (see placeholder).
Note on the mineral list: All samples of microlite group minerals analysed by Guastoni et al. (2008) are now ascribable to either hydroxycalciomicrolite (Vignola et al., 2018) or oxycalciomicrolite (Menezes da Silva et al., 2020).
