A fluorite mine, located south of the B242 road leading from Güntersberge to Siptenfelde.
The Hirschbüchenkopf mine is one of the newer mines in the region and was (underground) working as a part of the "Herzog shaft mine" until the abandonment of that mine in 1990. The buildings on the surface are already since a much longer time not in mining use (late 1960ies). Around 1980 a shaft tower has been dismounted for further using by the Flußschacht mine (at the nearby Rottleberode).
Currently the overground mine buildings are used as a low cost tourist hotel (also excellent suitable for mineral collectors).
The mineralization conforms largely with the adjacent mines at the vein system ("Herzog shaft" and "Anna"). However the occurence of opal is remarkable, which replaces parts of the vein content. Around 1980 could be found on the dump large blocks of that material, at which the original structure -calcite intergrown with fluorite- is still visible.
