Shurab (tadzh. Shӯrob) - settlement (the town was established in 1952-2007) in Sughd, north of Tajikistan. Located in the foothills of Turkestan range. Brown coal mining and mechanical plants developed in Soviet time.

Currently Shurab is an industrial town with low living standards.

The city is named Shurab, which is translated from the Tajik language - the salt water. Indeed, many water sources have a slightly salty taste due to the abundance of salt minerals, laid down in the sea of the Paleozoic era, which left behind a large number of fossil shells and remnants of corals in the mountains.
