When Wheal Reeth was suspended in 1772, this mine adopted the name of its neighbour. Thus, according to Noall, the sett and materials offered for sale in 1818 were probably those of this mine. When it was restarted in 1834, it changed its name to Reeth Consols in order to avoid confusion (sic) with the original Wheal Reeth which had been resumed in 1822.
