Quaternary
0 - 2.588 Ma

ID: 1447599
Quaternary surficial deposits; Alluvial deposits

Age: Pleistocene (0 - 2.588 Ma)

Description: Alluvium; unconsolidated rocks; mixed grained sediments; mixed lithologies

Lithology: Major:: {mixed fluvial sediment}; Major:: {talus}; Major:: {fanglomerate} Minor:: {eolian sand}; Minor:: {mixed lacustrine sediment}

Reference: R.L. Smith, W.P. Roe (compilers). Oregon Geologic Data Compilation, release 6. State of Oregon Department of Geology and Mineral Industries. [20]

Pliocene - Eocene
2.588 - 56 Ma

ID: 2768196
Silicic vent rocks

Age: Cenozoic (2.588 - 56 Ma)

Stratigraphic Name: Westfall Butte Volcanics

Description: Plugs and domal complexes of rhyolitic, rhyodacitic, and dacitic composition; includes related near-vent flows, flow breccia, and deposits of obsidian, perlite, and pumice. Locally includes resurgent domes related to caldera complexes. In southeast Oregon many domal complexes younger than 11 Ma exhibit a well-defined southeast to northwest age progression (Walker, 1974; MacLeod and others, 1976) from about 11 Ma to less than 1 Ma

Comments: The rhyolitic domal complexes become younger toward the northwest. Includes volcanics of Westfall Butte (OR148), which contains basalt, and rhyolite of Star Mountain (OR149).

Lithology: Major:{rhyolite,dacite}

Neogene
2.588 - 23.03 Ma

ID: 3186305
Cenozoic volcanic rocks

Age: Neogene (2.588 - 23.03 Ma)

Stratigraphic Name: Columbia River Basalt

Comments: Columbia Plateau

Lithology: Flood basalt(s); mafic volcanic rocks; basalt
