Rock cuts made in the 1960s into the Ordovician Maltby Lake metavolcanics on the west and north sides of the stores exposed mineralization. The best specimens came from the corner of the right angle cuts, which is in Woodbridge. The border with New Haven crosses near the middle of the cuts, so the southern portion is actually in New Haven.
Note: at the foot of one of the power line pylons in the norther part of the property is a small outcrop showing New Haven arkose conglomerate attached to the underlying metamorphic rocks. Exposures of this unconformity are very rare.
