Other/historical names associated with this locality:
Ambadongar

Carbonatite complex that intrudes Bagh sandstones (Cretaceous) and overlying Deccan basalt flows (Eocene), both of which, but particularly the former are in places fenitized.

The alkaline carbonatitic complex of Ambadongar is located approximately 38km south of Chhota Udaipur.

Fluorite veins and replacement deposits occur in both sövites and ankeritic carbonatites and are the largest fluorite deposits in India. They have been worked since 1970 and reserves were originally estimated at 11.6 million tonnes at an average of 30wt% CaF₂. There are also potential deposits of barite.

Geochronology

Mineralization age: Phanerozoic : ~145.0 Ma to 33.9 Ma

Important note: This table is based only on rock and mineral ages recorded on mindat.org for this locality and is not necessarily a complete representation of the geochronology, but does give an indication of possible mineralization events relevant to this locality. As more age information is added this table may expand in the future. A break in the table simply indicates a lack of data entered here, not necessarily a break in the geologic sequence. Grey background entries are from different, related, localities.
