Quarry opened in 19th century, exploitation terminated in 1997. Quarry situated on the side of Hradistsky hill (632 m above sea level).
The hill is named Hradistsky (stronghold) after the Bronze Age stronghold, hill was inhabited from 1200 to 400 BC.
