Mesothermal to epithermal gold and copper-beraing veins, hosted by Upper Cretaceous volcanic rocks and related to Upper Cretaceous intrusives.

The district has been mined since the end of the 18th century and its estimated production up to the present is more than 4 x 105 oz Au and 106 oz Ag, besides copper byproduct.
