Also known as Cancarix volcano (volcán de Cancarix). This is a protected area included in the "Monumento Nacional Pitón Volcánico de Cancarix". Collecting minerals is forbidden.
It is a volcanic dome, just over 7 million years old (Messinian), composed of rare lamproite (cancalite or cancarixite) rocks.
