A mercury mine located 2 miles South of, & ½ mile West of the Pike Co. line, in Howard Co. Started & worked in the period 1932-1933. Explored further in the late 1960's. Ore is fracture fillings in Gap Ridge Sandstone. Workings feature pits, trenches & shallow shafts.
Structure: Thrust Faults, N-S Tear Faults, And Two Fold Systems ; Reg.Trends: Thrust Faults From S In Late Paleozoic
Alteration: Sandstone Is Locally Silicified.
Deposit: Cinnabar is disseminated in sandstone and concentrated along fault planes.
Geology: Geol.desc: sandstone beds range from 6 in to 24 in thickness. Thin shale interbeds. Strike N 70 e, dip 90. Walls of stope are slickensided. Sandstone is locally brecciated.
