Exceptional specimens of stilbite are found in Miocene andesite, dated 25.1 to 26.5 m.y.o., in breccia filled lava tubes exposed along Forest Service road 88 at the mouth of Poison Creek with the Lewis River, Skamania County, Washington. Specimens were first found in 1961 by V. Camp when the road as first constructed. The area was extensively worked in 1980-1981 by Carl Harris and again another 8 feet of breccia in the tube was exposed in 1983 by Randy Becker. A third tube was found by Ray Lasmanis in 1992. Each tube contained stacks of volcanic breccia covered with tiny heulandite/mordenite crystals on which large stilbite crystals were found. Mud filled the remainder of the tube.
