The pyromorphite from San Andrés Mine in Espiel, Córdoba, has been known from the first half of the XX century. Many specimens were obtained in 1980-85. The better specimens were found in 1997, after the closing of the mine, in an "irregular" mining operation, crossing a collapsed zone by inserting a steel tube. Others specimens have been obtained by collectors in the same, extremely dangerous, area in recent years.


Geographical note: Villaviciosa de Córdoba is the nearest town to San Andrés mine, but the mine is located in the Espiel "municipio".
