An abandoned asbestos mine located near Saint-Joseph-de-Coleraine, in the Black Lake — Thetford Mines area. The orebody was discovered by the Asbestos Corporation Ltd. in 1946. Mineralization is in ultrabasic, serpentinized rock. The open pit mine operated from 1955 to 1982, processing up to 6,370 metric tons of ore per day. An adjoining, deep orebody, called the Penhale orebody, was discovered by drilling in 1965. It was explored by a 500-meter-deep shaft but was not put into production.

Note on the mineral list: chromian diopside and uvarovite reported by Grubb (1965) are respectively diopside and grossular, both Cr-bearing.
