The mines around Mosbach and Volperhausen were part of the Ründeroth district and worked on siderite veins of the Siegerland type. In the beginning of the mining period copper ore was mined, later on - up to 1925 - the siderite. Most important mines were "Magdalena" and "Georg & Sonne". Magdalena mine started in 1890 and closed in 1912.
