Dyfed
A small, isolated group of workings on the headland of Dinas Fawr that was worked for the silver content of its ore by German miners in the 16th and 17th centuries. Proposals to rework the mine occurred in the 1800s, but there is little evidence of much being done. Three adits and a shaft are still identifiable (G W Hall, 1993)
Significantly argentiferous tetrahedrite occurs in association with bournonite, in masses to 3 cm in quartz (Mason & Bevins, 2002). Other sulphides are galena, chalcopyrite and minor sphalerite.
G W Hall, 1993, Metal Mines of Southern Wales, Griffin Publications
Mason, J.S. & Bevins, R.E., 2002. St Elvis Mine, Solva, Pembrokeshire: Another Elizabethan tetrahedrite occurrence? British Mining 71, 5-12, Northern Mines Research Society.
