The province of Foggia can be divided in three parts: the Tavoliere, a plain of ca. 3,000 km2, the Daunian Mountains, the eastern appendix of the Campanian Apennines, and the Gargano or Gargano Promontory, the spur of the boot-shaped Italian peninsula. Part of the province are also Tremiti Islands, an archipelago in the Adriatic Sea.
