This gravelly to rocky stream runs easterly from the confluence with Manning Brook with it and crosses into Charlemont, continuing to its confluence with the Deerfield River in that town. Gravel bars and rocky stretches have produced a variety of stream-tumbled rock and mineral specimens over the years. The river runs immediately parallel to Route 2, which is the noted "Mohawk Trail" tourist highway. Often when driving the Trail in this area you will see families down in the stream collecting "pretty rocks." The list of what is found here is probably much more extensive than the one given here. The locality has even been known to give up gold dust and tiny flakes from time-to-time. [The river actually straddles the town line between Savoy and Florida, so the site could be listed under Florida as well as Savoy. Basically, anything found on the south side of the stream is from Savoy; while anything found on the north side is from Florida.]
