Eidsvoll Gullverk (Eidsvold Gullverk), Eidsvoll, Viken, Norge
Gold was found during the late 1740's near what is now known as the Gullkisgruva. However, it took 10 years before this find became known, and in 1758 the mine inspector from Kongsberg came here to take samples. The results were positive and in 1759 operations started, with the state (Norway was at the time under the Danish King) as owner and with the Kongsberg Sølvverk responsible for running the mines. There has been activity in four periods: 1758-1783, 1786-1807/1811, 1896-1903 and 1905-1907. All in all 150 kg of gold was produced. A short period in 1898 a total of 192 workers were employed here.
"Gamle-gruben" was the first mine in operation.
There are six old mines: Gamle-gruben ("the Old mine"), Brødstadgruben (Brustad-gruben), Sanner-gruben, Græsli-gruben, Boshaugdalen-skjerp (prospect) and Utsjø-gruben.
Gold occurs with pyrite in quartz veins of late Proterozoic age.
