"West on the D417 from Gérardmer. The mine with autunite, braunite, manganite, torbernite, and pyrolusite, is located on the left side of the road." [Belot, 1978]

Manganese-bearing quartz veins in fractures of a two-micas granite (Remiremont granite), worked by a couple of small mines from 1912 to 1944.
