An former Cu occurrence/prospect/mine consisting of three shafts located near Phoenix. The Miskwabik Exploration was formed as an association in 1902 with surface exploration work beginning the same year. By 1903, the operation had sunk a shaft to 170 feet on the Kearsarge Lode. Other surface work included trenching and test pits, but very little copper was found. The copper vein the shaft was sunk upon was very rich, but also narrow and small in volume. This may have contributed to the mine closing in 1903 because of lack of funds. The mine would eventually become part of the Ojibway Mining Company. Copper should be found at the site, if it can be located.
Mineralization is a Cu deposit (Deposit type: Fissure copper veins), hosted in Portage Lake Volcanics (basalt).
