A skarn gold deposit in Late Triassic dolomites in the exocontact zones of the Zarkashan intrusion, which is composed of gabbro, monzonite, and syenite. Alluvial placer gold occurrences have been discovered in the immediate vicinity. The skarns occur in pockets or as sheet-like bodies. Ores are enriched in several zones, which are 400-600 m long and 11-75 m wide, and could be traced for 80 m down dip. The richest gold ore is found in phlogopite skarns. Soviet estimates of gold reserves were 7777 kg, and 'inferred reserves' of 12,000 to 15,000 kg of Au.
