A 19th century iron mine, located in East Whiteland Township, which exploited residual deposits of goethite and limonite that formed along Shenandoah limestone.
Located about 0.75 mile (1.21 km) NW of the railway Planebrook Station. Location on map is approximate.
Note on the mineral list: for "coeruleolactite" see references and information given for planerite, all turquoise group minerals are found to be planerite at this locality.

ⓘ ' Description: See also planerite entry for this locality.
This material is cuprian planerite or "half-empty" turquoise. Published analysis indicates that the vacany in the 'A' site is between 0.51-0.54 atom fraction, the balance in Cu-0.40 and Zn-0.06 to 0.09, so this is indeed planerite. |
