A lead-zinc deposit in stratiform "kuroko"-type ore (massive sulphide orebody deposited hydrothermally in the sea floor - similar to current "black smoker" environment; five kuroko ore bodies are reported by Sakazaki et al., 1965) hosted in Miocene dacitic and basaltic volcanoclastics and dykes. Mine is now closed, but was once of interest for its content of rare elements, including Ge, In, Au.
Located ca. 2 km east of the Hanaoka mine.
One of the largest lead and zinc mines in Japan.
