H:2cm x W:2cm x D:1.5cm White lanthanite-La micro-crystals form a crust over mildly radioactive massive allanite-(Ce). Crystals of hydroxylbastnäsite-(La) are also possibly present. These species were confirmed by Pavel Kartashov. See http://www.mindat.org/photo-436217.html and http://www.mindat.org/photo-436215.html Collected by me, ...

Enlarged fragment of the previous SEM image of alteration crust over Allanite-(Ce). Abundant orthorhombic crystals of Lanthanite-(La) with perfect cleavage are visible. Apparently formation of cleavage fissures is connected with dehydratation of crystals in vacuum. The mineral composition ranges from ...

These crystals are difficult to photograph - they are quite small and a very pale pink in color. The crystal group is approximately 0.8 mm across. Lanthanite-(La) occurs at this locality in thin seams of corroded calcite. This an example of the platy habit; other image(s) for this mineral at this locality show a blocky habit. See this ...

Personal email - confirmed by Pavel Kartashov that I may use/post this image. Comments from Pavel Kartashov, who analysed the specimen: Lanthanite from Putney is Lantanite-(La)!!! Very interesting result. On the one hand, I hadn't yet it in my collection (only Ce- and Nd-dominant members of the series), from the other, it means that ...
