Euhedral colorless chisel-shaped fassinaite crystals that are only visible as sharp lustrous faces. Subhedral transparent pale yellow sulphur and orange sphalerite are also in association and the whole assemblage sits atop galena. Snow Dusted Cut

County Road 480 roadcut, Negaunee Township, Marquette County, Michigan, USA

Here is a photograph of the County Road 480 roadcut near Negaunee, Michigan. Some quartz veins zigzag across the cut, and contain tiny arsenopyrite crystals. This is one of only a few arsenopyrite occurrences in the state of Michigan, and is certainly the most collectible. Photo taken in the late evening of Dec. 20 2015 during a very mild winter.
