A piece of massive chalcocite found as a thin seam in a sandstone outcrop near the top of the dump. Chalcocite was the principal ore mineral at the mine, which was the first copper mine (1750) in what is now the US. At the bottom of one the shafts are the remains of the first steam engine in America.
