Petroglyph Cliffs, Lava Beds National Monument
Lava Beds National Monument, Siskiyou County, California, USA
An added attraction at Lava Beds National Monument is the petroglyphs carved by members of the Modoc tribe, who lived here until the 1870’s. Some of the carvings may even predate the Modocs. This bluff was surrounded by the waters of Tule Lake in the 1800’s, and could only be reached by boat. Wave action made rings around the bluff, seen here. ...
