New Light Mine, Slate Creek Mining District, Whatcom County, Washington, USA
Some low grade ore from the new light containing disseminated pyrite and sphalerite in quartz. From Bart Cannon.
This Atlas Diesel engine was installed to power a generator that ran the mill. The previous power source was a pelton water turbine, but did not produce enough power so the engine was installed in the early 1950s.
The ore bunker at the millsite. This was after the primary crusher and fed to the ball mills. The mill operated until 1983 when it was destroyed by an avalanche.

The mill of the New Light mine. This was on the cover of an annual report by the Western Gold Mining company from 1960. The mill was later destroyed by an avalanche.
One of the upper adits of the New Light mine. The mine appears to have been abandoned at this time based off of the poor condition of the equipment. Mucker on left, portable compressor on right. Photo by Elwin Magill 9/1967
