Tunk Creek, Okanogan County, Washington, USA
Self collected in 1979 in an area that was highly touted in collecting guide books of the 1950s and 60s. I'd really like to see samples of any of other species referenced. 9cm by 5.5cm
Found on the side of the road below the roadcut through the schists and gneisses where the highway crosses Tunk Creek.

Hornblende from road cut immediately north of where highway crosses Tunk Creek. Field of view is 8 cm x 6cm.
This specimen has a sugary appearance & shows light pink colored thulite lens in a compact hornblende schist matrix. A translucent unidentified yellow mineral occurs on the topmost thulite lens edge. Trace Fe staining exists on the backside.
