Mine workings
Last Chance Mine, Tallahassee Creek Mining District, Fremont County, Colorado, USA
This is a view of the eastern face of the Last Chance Mine cut. At the base of the face is a gray layer of volcanic ash conglomerate; within this volcanic ash, one can find radioactive wood. For scale, the shovel at the lower left of the photo is 50 inches (1.27 meters) long. Photo taken May, 2011 by Ralph Parkes.
