Lustrous brassy millerite crystals richly fill the top portion of a quartz geode.

Lustrous sprays of millerite are in the geode void. Most of the millerite crystals at Hoopeston occurred as single strands to rich crystal mats (also known as "birdnests").

Pyrite and calcite crystals are on chalcedony. The pyrite "nail" crystals were fairly rare at Hoopeston.

This is a micromount specimen of millerite from Hoopeston, Vermilion County, Illinois. I acquired the specimen from Don and Mary Jane Smoley at the 2023 Mansfield Mineral Show.
