0FR-D2GFluorite CaF2

09414230014946654613486.jpg
Huanggang Fe-Sn deposit, Hexigten Banner, Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia, China

Field of View: 4 cm

Fluorite with rare crystal form - trigonal trisoctahedron on quartz. Interestingly these rather well formed purple crystal having a green core. Huanggang skarn deposit appeared to produce this rare crystal form more frequent than others, making it a wonderful locality for crystallographic collectors.

Huanggang Fe-Sn deposit, Hexigten Banner, Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia, China

Field of View: 3 cm
Largest Crystal Size: 6 mm

Purple Fluorite in a rather uncommon crystal form - trigonal trisoctahedron. These crystals were found growing on quartz coated breccia, some with association of calcite crystals.

Dimensions: 11.5 cm x 12 cm x 5.5 cm
Largest Crystal Size: 1.5 cm

Richly colored fluorite with multiple stages of growth, resulting different color of fluorite on iron stained quartz. At first the fluorite crystallized as octahedrons with sea-green cores, rimmed by blue - then purple rim., then folowed by latest nearly color-less cubic epitactic growth. Very nice when backlit.

Mamuju area, West Sulawesi Province, Indonesia

Field of View: 1 cm

Small interesting rounded quartz var. amethyst from a still undocumented locality at West Sulawesi Island. This rather new material were more commonly found as botryoidal or globular aggregates in well crystalline form (like this example) or crytocrystalline form (as purple chalcedoney) in large irregular shaped lumps. Some of them appeared to have inclusions of green celadonitic clays, which makes these unusual specimens very colorful. Tonnes of this material appeared to be found and being sold under the trade name "Manakarra Stone" or "Grape Chalcedoney"., "Grape Agate".
