49W-73QSphalerite ZnS
Smallcleugh Mine, Nenthead, Alston Moor, Eden, Cumbria, England, UKDimensions: 75 mm x 45 mm x 32 mm
An S-shaped drift of complex crystals of black sphalerite perched atop ankerite (per the original label) or possibly (?) dolomite on deep grey specular matrix.
If the original label and ID is correct, a Mindat photo reviewer noted that the "specimen has been cleaned in an inappropriate manner. The ankerite has only a very thin orange weathering zone at its surface, which rapidly disappears upon short-time contact with citric acid, iron out etc. These specimens are not naturally found on white ankerite."
GL9-KALChalcopyrite CuFeS2 , Dolomite CaMg(CO3)2
Shaft 371, Hartenstein, Zwickau District, Saxony, GermanyDimensions: 58 mm x 50 mm x 20 mm
Previous owner noted the locality in several ways, including as "Wismutschacht 371, Hartenstein, Erzgebirge". I believe the listed Mindat locality is correct.
99R-LDNDickite Al2(Si2O5)(OH)4 , Quartz SiO2
Saint Clair, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, USADimensions: 95 mm x 75 mm x 55 mm
A light dusting of dickite micros on a plate of well-formed clear quartz attached to a small bit of matrix. A few crystals are double terminated and there is some parallel growth, with a small, gemmy interpenetrated twin at top. Acquired from Jere and Keith Brady; their label listed the locality only as "Schuylkill Co., Pa." but discussions with local collectors and review of Mindat photos strongly suggest Saint Clair as the specific locale. Gift to Melissa, Darryl, and Lucas to welcome Baby Igor.
