Collecting at the Centennial Eureka Mine
Centennial Eureka Mine, Eureka, Juab Co., Utah, USACollectors John Dagenais and Wes Gannaway can be seen hunkered down in attempt to brave the wind while collecting at the Centennial Eureka Mine. The windy conditions continued for some time after this, culminating in the development of very dark and threatening clouds, with an occasional thunder boom in the distance. At one point, the wind tore a piece of wrapping paper that I was attempting to maneuver towards a rock I had collected, leaving me with the small fragment in my grasp. When the thunder began, in this very exposed location at over 6000 feet in elevation, it is wise to seek a more sheltered environment and we departed. The photograph was taken on September 21, 2010.
