This crystal is deep blue with many transparent areas and was found during a road construction project. All faces and both terminations have a mirror bright luster with no sign of stream abrasion. Some interesting crystalline inclusions near one termination. Jeff Scovil Photo.

Foote Lithium Co. Mine, Kings Mountain, Cleveland County, North Carolina, USAFamous for rare phosphates and micromounts,the Foote Mine also has produced a few superb specimens in a slightly larger size range. This newly acquired specimen is 2.25cm wide by 2.0cm high. Largest crystal is 1.4cm wide. This purple fluorapatite thumbnail closely approaches those from the famous Pulsifer Quarry in quality.

Coscuez Mine, San Pablo de Borbur, Western Boyacá Province, Boyacá Department, ColombiaExceptional undamaged thumbnail cluster 2.5cm wide x 1.8cm tall as shown. All crystals are transparent and double terminated except for the background "side car" which is complete as well and branches from the major crystal. A small amount of carbonaceous calcite matrix forms the dark central attachment.
