Multiple photos available
07732920015809384099906.jpg
Sterling Mine, Sterling Hill, Ogdensburg, Franklin Mining District, Sussex County, New Jersey, USA

FOV 2.4 x 2.9 mm. This is the parent photo "tweaked" to reduce the overly magenta color balance and rotated 90 degrees.

The transparent orange dolomite is ~ 0.9 mm in diameter – which is actually “big” for Sterling Hill. It sits on calcite scalenohedra.

Update Oct 2019: The dolomite ID has now been verified - to the extent posible - via qualitative EDS. See the new analysis "photo"

The black pointy things (e.g. behind the dolomite and at top) were alleged to be hematite, but Van King suspected pyrochroite and recent (Oct 2019) EDS shows that he was pobably right. See the new "related" (same minID) photos and EDS scan.
