A rich and unusual mix of minerals on such a small specimen. We have small spherical druses of the rare sulfate chalcoalumite, rare silicate ajoite [not or wrongly analysed, could be a cyanotrichite-group mineral] along with brochantite on native copper and cuprite. 2 x 1.5 x 1.1 cm. EHV-0PUCalcite (Var: Manganoan Calcite) (Ca,Mn)CO3

07758770014947839435704.jpg
N'Chwaning Mines, Kuruman, Kalahari manganese field, Northern Cape, South Africa

7 x 4 x 4.5
A fabulous new find from this classic locality, this manganocalcite is formed of a mass of light pink sprays. The pink calcite seems to have attached itself to white string like crystals which could possibly be quartz or calcite. This is an amazing looking specimen, which fluoresces under UV light too.
