Last Updated: 8th May 2018By Keith Della Grotta
Alone in the woods is where I find myself most days a backpack water my grandfathers rock hammer chisel jewelers loop All though these days that could be the desert mountains from Maine to California and everything in between and then the search is on looking for that one stone that one crystal gem that rock that tells the story of thousands and millions of years I don’t know if it’s a passion or obsession it could even be both sometimes I can cover miles looking for that one spot you know when you see it sometimes stands out like your sore thumb when you miss your chisel other times if you blink you’ll miss it could be that outcropping that vein of quarts the backwash of the riverbank A tree that laid over exposing roots but you will know when you find it no matter how sunburn how many blisters you got on your feet how many times you smashed your hand bitten up by bugs heck even if it took two days to get there to find that rock that gem it makes it all worthwhile there is a story behind everything you add to your collection there are a few in mine that make my feet hurt just thinking about them I hope you got some enjoyment out of the read
