Tucson 2013 - The TGMS Show

Finally, a little overdue but better late than never, the TGMS photo report from last month's Tucson Show.

The show prepares to open the doors to the public.

And the public queue up ready to enter.

The theme of this year's show is Fluorite, and we had the great fortune to have found this incredible fluorite specimen, called the Weardale Giant, within the last twelve months. See this article on how it was collected.

We were visited by Lauren Megaw and her mineralogy student friends.

There was also a giant bony fake fish fossil walking around the show, presumably to remind the kids to feed their goldfish.

Mineral dealer Danny Trinchillo junior, with some help from dad, offering some quite nice Iranian mimetite specimens for sale at the show at kid-friendly prices.

Amanda Adkins, full-time specimen miner in Colorado and one of the stars of the new Weather Channel TV series 'Prospectors', showing off a classic Amazonite specimen.

Dmitriy Belakovsky, from the Fersman Mineralogical Museum in Moscow, Russia, and Guenther Neumeier of the Mineralogical Record magazine

Elise Skalwold showing off her new book on the Edward Arthur Metzger Gem Collection (review coming soon on gemdat.org!)

That's all for Tucson this year. My next report will be from the New York/New Jersey Mineral Show at the NJ Expo Center, April 12-14. I'll post a preview article about this show in the next 2 days!
