Tucson 2013 - The Pueblo Gem and Mineral Show

Last Updated: 20th Mar 2013

By Jolyon & Katya Ralph

After arriving in Tucson yesterday, our first stop was the Pueblo Gem and Mineral Show at the Riverpark Inn hotel, not far from the Convention Center downtown.

One tent at the Pueblo Show. More dealers were inside the hotel rooms and ballrooms.

The Pueblo Show has been trying for a few years now to expand the number of 'serious' mineral dealers attending, and this has now become so successful that their mineral dealer building is now entirely full up with a waiting list for next year.

Some dealers, such as Rocksaholics, use the Pueblo as their main base in Tucson. Others, such as The Arkenstone, are using it to show more of their extensive inventory along with an extra room of keystone items.

Here are a few photos from the show.

The White Dragon, a 2504g tri-colour spodumene from Waygal, Afghanistan. Rocksaholics specimen

Torbernite from Gunnislake, Cornwall, UK - one of a suite of radioactive minerals offered by The Uncarved Block

Cuprosklodowskite from the Musonoi mine, DR Congo. The Uncarved Block

Metatorbernite from Margabal mine, France. The Uncarved Block

Fake mica from China! The Uncarved Block

Ametrine crystal from Bolivia. AFMC specimen

Brookite from Zard, Pakistan. Fine Art Minerals specimen

In the evening, the Pueblo Show organized a public lecture event, for the second year running in cooperation with This year it was organized by Tomasz Prazkier, who also gave the first talk on Mibladen - the most famous moroccan mineral locality. Other talks were by John Veevaert (Mineral fakes), and Mark Mauthner (The 2012 conference). But first, it started with a wine and cheese and lizard party.

Maurice Destouet, Pueblo Show organizer, welcomes everyone to the evening event.
