China Minerals trip: HuangGang mine,Keshiketeng Qi,ChiFeng,Inner Mongolia,2011 J

We visited HuangGang mine,Keshiketeng Qi,ChiFeng,Inner Mongolia,China-Minerals trip 2011 June 6th-17th.

This locality be found as a good specimens location around 2010 June, interesting ilvaite be found from this locality first, then found more interesting mineral species: transparent octahedral fluorite, arsenopyrite & pink or red fluorite, quartz., hedenbergite, pyrite, Aquamarine, pink Calcite.... Minerals species looks so many, and specimens showing up quantity looks a lot. IT IS another good locality for China Minerals career. Hope more and more nice minerals specimens come from this locality.
Exact locality info: HuangGang Mine, Keshiketeng Qi, ChiFeng city, Inner mongolia, China. Total about 8 mining areas in the mine, general info: No.1 area: hedenbergite, garnet, quartz, ilvaite, fluorite No.2 area: arsenopyrite, hedenbergite, ilvaite, No.5 area: calcite, fluorite, We will update more exact info when we doing futher researching there. Yes, We met the red deer when we visited mine again in the night, amazing! He just stay there for a while in front of our auto headlight, then go away. It is a pity that did not take a photo. Good locality for tour & minerals specimen!

Very very cool .. My question how hard is it to travel around china and to see the mining sites?

Nice report! I have a question: you mentioned aquamarines from this location. I have seen a couple aquamarines ascribed to somewhere in Inner Mongolia, but they looked identical in form and associations to pieces from Erongo, Namibia.

Do you have any pictures or information that might help to prove definitively that they are in fact Chinese?

Hello Byron Thomas, Not So Hard for us, just It is difficult to find a good locality for fine crystal minerals specimens.

Hello Byron,
Aquamarine from Huanggang is till now relatively rare. I have seen some pieces and all of them had a clear blue core and a lighter blue opaque rim. It seems that there are always 2 generations in one crystal. Most of the Aquamarine offered from Huanggang are without matrix but if you have luck you also can get Aquamarine on quartz. I have seen only 2 specimens of Aquamarine on quartz, both had nice Aquamarine xls on double terminated quart xl.
