Terminated elbaite collected by Adam Berluti and Jim Smigel from the "Trick or Treat Pocket" October 31, 2015. The elbaite is partially encrusted with bundles of fibrous muscovite variety schernikite, with minor cookeite. Interestingly, the color of the elbaite becomes much lighter green and translucent right above the schernikite. It could be a coincidence, but there there are several crystals like this, and crystals that are completely enclosed are very dark green along their whole length. Crystals from this pocket are the best elbaites to come out of the ground in Connecticut since the Gillette Quarry stopped working in the 1940s.
